Bexhill and Battle constituency’s 14.5% pay rise

The Bexhill and Battle constituency has appeared in the top 10 places in the country that have seen the highest pay rises.

A league table of average salaries shows in 2014 the average annual wage in the constituency was £26,555, which was a 14.5 per cent increase from the previous year.

The town that came top, with a 24 per cent increase, was Sevenoaks in Kent, with an average salary of more than £51,000, 10 times the national average.

At the other end of the scale, Holborn and St Pancras in north London witnessed the biggest fall in average annual salaries last year, a drop of 14 per cent to £36,659.

Other areas which saw big decreases included North Shropshire, which was down by 12.5 per cent and East Surrey, which saw an 11.1 per cent drop.

The data was featured in the Office of National Statistics’ (ONS) Annual Survey of Hours and Earnings data.
