Rother District Council’s cabinet is being asked whether the club can put the portable cabin on the council-owned car park on De La Warr Parade for three years to support the club’s juniors.

Planning consent was given to the club on October 13, but still needs the council’s permission.

The anglers want to hold youth coaching and a clubhouse for the children, which needs to be separate from the current clubhouse for safeguarding reasons.

Officers support the club’s project due to the active sporting contribution it provides to the area, but cabinet members will discuss it at Monday’s meeting.

“The club is considered to be very well-run, providing an active sporting interest to a large and growing group of members and with strong financial management in place,” an officer’s report says.

The club is in the process of developing a long-term plan with a much-improved clubhouse with modern facilities.

“This will potentially contribute to an enhanced setting of the promenade, in line with the council’s own plans to improve visitor enjoyment at East Parade,” the report adds.
