Bexhill Choral Society "excellent evening"

Bexhill Choral Society opened its new season with a performance of The Armed Man at St Augustine's Church in Cooden Drive.

This was a mass for peace created by Karl Jenkins and commissioned by the Royal Armouries to mark the Millenium. It was conducted by Bexhill Choral Society musical director Kenneth Roberts.

Group member Mo Cannon commented: "It was a really good evening. The church was completely full and it went well. It was an excellent evening and we were delighted with the outcome. It has been performed in Hastings and Battle before this year so we were obviously a bit apprehensive to what the turnout would be like, but it was terrific, and we were delighted."

Bexhill Choral Society is currently looking for new members - there are 60 at present and the idea is to meet every Wednesday evening at St Martha's church hall at 7pm. The group performs three times a year - their next concert will be on December 13, also at St Augustine's, and will be their Christmas performance comprising Christmas songs, carols, and favourites for the audience to join in.
