Bexhill College is awarded Ofsted logo

Bexhill College has received the Ofsted Outstanding logo this year.

This comes following the most recent Ofsted inspection in November in which the college was judged overall to be “good” but with “outstanding” aspects in two subject areas, which were health, social care, early years, and crafts, creative arts, design, media and communication.

Bexhill College received confirmation from Ofsted Chief Inspector Christine Gilbert, who said the college was now officially recognised as Ofsted Outstanding 2010/11 because of this, and can use the logo in its publicity or literature for these two areas of learning.

The duties of Her Majesty’s Inspector include highlighting the success of organisations judged to be outstanding when they are inspected. In 2009/10, only eight further education colleges in the whole of the country received the Ofsted Outstanding logo. Only two of these were sixth form colleges.

Principal Karen Hucker said: “We were particularly pleased to receive grade one for areas of our curriculum provision.

“This overall recognition for the college reflects the hard work of the staff and students and the support received from their parents.

“It also means that students in Rother and Hastings now have the opportunity to choose post-16 provision from the only local provider recognised as Ofsted Outstanding.”
