Bexhill Day Surgery unit wins NHS Trust award

Since last August, the number of procedures performed at the unit has increased significantly, says the Trust.

Now, around 130 procedures such as oral surgery, hernia repair and arthroscopies (knee investigations) are performed each month.

The Trust's director of operations, Jim Davey, said: "The day surgery team at Bexhill have dramatically increased activity since the summer of last year.

"The unit is appreciated by patients and has a high patient satisfaction rating. They are currently specialising in arthroscopies and have doubled their orthopaedic work in the last three months."

The Bexhill Day Surgery Unit is a consultant-led unit, undertaking surgery with patients going home on the day of surgery. More than 10 consultant surgeons operate at the unit which has a team of around 13 nursing and administrative staff.
