Bexhill developer hopes to build on success

A BEXHILL housing developer whose ethos is to "keep it local" is building up for another round of success.

Sixzero Limited, which was founded in 2006 by managing director John Loades and two friends, has just received a plaque marking the firm's accolade won in the LABC Developer of the Year Awards 2008.

The company took home a "highly commended" award in the national "under 20 units" category for the development of Colwall Court, Pages Avenue, Cooden. The plaque now hangs proudly in the showflat on the site.

But that's not the end - Sixzero has also been nominated for the LABC Build Quality Awards 2009, and John said his team is looking forward to similar or better success.

Colwall Court was a holiday home for disabled children for many years and played host to many celebrities during fund-raising tea parties.

In more recent times it was used as a drug and alcohol rehabilitation centre, but had been left empty to deteriorate for around two years before Sixzero bought the site.

John said, "We all live and work locally to the Bexhill area and believe strongly in "keeping it local" as far as we can '“ for services, suppliers and sub-contractors.

"I actually went to Little Common CP School and then to Bexhill High School (as part of their first intake in 1977). This was followed by A-levels in Eastbourne and a degree in civil engineering in London."

Sixzero Limited is based in Burnside Mews, off London Road, Bexhill-on-Sea.
