Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash between the Ford and a grey Seat at around 10.30pm.

Sergeant Stacey Ellott said: “We would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and who saw the collision and/or what happened immediately before or after.

“Witnesses can email [email protected] or call 101 quoting reference 1489 of 23/04.”

The Seat driver, a 55-year-old man from Pevensey, had to be cut free from the car before being taken to hospital with a broken leg.

His two passengers, a 55-year-old woman and a 14-year-old girl, both suffered minor injuries that did not require hospital treatment.

Everyone in the Ford – the driver, two women, a 46-year-old and a 19-year-old, and a 20-year-old man, all from Bexhill – suffered minor injuries and were taken to hospital as a precaution.

This was after being hunted down by police dogs and the police helicopter who searched nearby open land when they fled the scene.

The road was closed until around 4am on Sunday (24 April) for recovery work.

The Ford driver was bailed until June 28.
