We were joined at our February meeting by Stephen McDonald from Brighton. The hall was packed with members and visitors anticipating an exciting presentation.

Stephen did not disappoint. The presentation was entititled Bamboozaled and was based on a bamboo theme.

The first arrangement was in a large boat shaped bamboo dish, with Cordyline Black Tie leaves and pussy willow as the tall element, with white lilies and germinis. Aspidestra leaves and fatsia finished the arrangement at the base. The contrast between black and white was truly spectacular.

The second arrangement was a horizontal shape on two bamboo canes. Again wonderful foliage with foxtail ferns, and pink germinis and orchids.

This was followed by two more outstanding arrangements one using pin cushion proteas, tangerine roses and the other with butterfly palms, cymbidium orchids with red roses. The last display was as spectacular as Stephen’s usual finale using 3 six foot bamboo poles with cutout sections. The flowers and foliage was again showy and luxurious with pink carnations, orchids, and lovely tropical foliage.

Everyone agreed that it had been an outstanding afternoon with Stephen, a Chelsea gold and Best in Show Winner, showing his usual style and class.

Our next meeting will be held at Manor Barn on Thursday 3rd March at 2pm. Visitors are welcome. For further information call 01424 212154.
