"We must all acknowledge that this is a transition period and that moving 1,600 students from one school site to another is a massive challenge.

"I am delighted that Mike has invited the Ninestiles Company to support and assist us until July whilst he is working on the new development. We all look forward to working with them and then to Mike retaking the reins from me from September 2010 in our new school."

She was however disappointed to read criticsm of Ninestiles' involvement in the Observer.

"One letter asked how the company would benefit the High School. I can assure the person who asked that question that I am quite clear of the benefits, as are Mike and the governors.
