Bexhill High rocks challenge

BEXHILL High School has come third in the south-east regional heat of the Global Rock Challenge 2010.

Nine schools from around Kent and Sussex took part in the competition at the Congress Theatre in Eastbourne.

Seventy students from Bexhill High School were involved in the day which consisted of warm-ups in the morning, followed by production meetings, rehearsals, creating lighting design and video direction, and then the evening performances.

The judges described their performance as: ''A great variety of choreographic styles, fantastic use of entrances and exits... the performers were very believable as their characters and the final scene moved a captivated audience to tears.''

Bexhill High was awarded Best Concept Interpretation, Best Drama Skills and The Performers' Choice, an award voted for by the other schools involved, and overall came third behind the winners Durrington High School.

Mike Conn, Executive Principal at Bexhill High School, said, 'I am over the moon with the results and I am very proud of everyone involved.'
