Bexhill high students meet author

Meeting author Kate O'Hearn and discussing her work was an opportunity enjoyed by book-loving Year 7 students from Bexhill High.

They listened to the writer read her new novel and talk about it, and they also learned all about the job of an editor.

Jo Stanley, who is Independent Learning Centre Manager, commented: "We are part of the 1066 Book Award group and the winner of our award in April was Kate O'Hearn with her first book Shadown Of The Dragon - Kira.

"She was so pleased at winning it that she launched her second book at Helenswood and invited all participating schools to go along.

"I took the Year 7 students who read her first book...they were excited to be invited to her new book launch. We were extremely pleased she wanted to lauch her book with us, and we went there and had a wonderful time.

"She read an excerpt from it, and her editor was there and told us what an editor did.

"It was all about reading and working with others. It was such an exciting experience for our students to have - they took the book home and read it within two days, said it was brilliant and they cannot wait for the next one."
