Bexhill holiday families stranded in USA after terrorist attacks

DOZENS of Bexhill holidaymakers are stranded in the USA following the terrorist blitz on New York and Washington.

Bexhill-based travel firm Holiday America has been inundated with calls since all stateside planes were grounded for security reasons.

Meanwhile town reaction to the catastrophic terrorist attacks which have cost thousands of lives, was swift and sympathetic.

The Town Mayor, Cllr Joanne Gadd, sent an immediate message of sympathy to the American Ambassador in London.

She told the Observer: My thoughts are for the dead, the grieving- and for the Mayor of New York and the work he now faces.

I feel dreadfully sorry for him. My heart goes out to him and to the people affected.

It is unbelievable.

Schools and churches prayed for peace and for the relatives of the dead.

At his Bexhill home internationally-renowned specialist writer on terrorism Christopher Dobson said an effective American response must depend on pinpoint accuracy.

Town MP Greg Barker said: It is something we shall have to take in our stride. The important thing is that we must not let it change our lives; we have lived through other horrors before.

Schools and churches have expressed shock and offered prayers.
