Bexhill man's novel way to promote more Bible reading

Paul Minter, of Constable Way, believes the Good Book could be devided into five easy to read sections.

He has already tried to pitch the idea to churches.

Paul said: “When working on yearly Bible reading plans I glanced across at a New Testament. It’s a really simple small book and I thought why can’t the whole Bible be that easy?

“Then it hit me, it can and that’s when I got the idea of producing the Bible in five paperback natural sections, namely the Law with 187 chapters, the History, 249 chapters, the Poetry, 243 chapters, the Prophets, 250 chapters, and obviously New Testament, with 260 chapters.

“To see it for myself, I bought a cheap Bible and ripped it into the five sections, made my own covers and a box for the set.”

Paul, a carer for disbaled and autistic children, added he was ‘passionate’ about getting people started on reading the Bible daily for the rest of their lives.

He said: “Many struggle though with the size of the Bible. They are used to best-selling paperbacks, they can read many a year, and even whole sets like Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter.

“We need to put the Bible into their hands in a format they recognise - a best-selling five-book series.

“This would also make it readable when travelling on trains, buses and planes, on holiday, on the beach, or in the park.

“Every house could have one of these sets and obviously they can be produced in every translation.

“I’m just an average guy with an idea that I believe could transform Bible reading worldwide forever. I’m not looking to make any money, I only want the Bible to be even more popular and readable than it is now.

“Many people locally, in Bexhill, still know me best from my years of regular letters on the Bexhill Observer’s letters page. Others for the tens of thousands of Gospels and tracts I delivered not just in Bexhill, but Battle, St Leonards and Hastings. In those days my white van was a daily sight around town covered in car magnets and posters encouraging Bible reading.”
