Roger Crouch, the man behind the event, said visitors and residents can look forward to a full day of colour, music and dance with the Guinness World Record for the Largest Charleston Dance being attempted again.

Earlier this year Mr Crouch issued a rallying cry to Bexhill to help him take back the record, snatched from the town’s grasp after just three months.

Last July, a total of 503 enthusiastic dancers danced to a set routine for five minutes. They broke a previous record of 356 people, held by the Blue Mountains, Lithgow and Oberon region of New South Wales, Australia.

But in October London went for the record which has only been verified by Guinness fairly recently with 975 dancers.

Mr Crouch added: “Our congratulations and thanks to Swing Patrol in London. This now gives us the chance to recapture the excitement and buzz of last year which put Bexhill on the Guinness World Record map.

“The routine to learn is on www.bexhillroaring20s.org.uk but for all those who want to learn in the public workshops the first one is this Saturday (June 4) on the terrace of the De La Warr Pavilion at 2pm. It will be led once again by our Debonnaire Entertainment dancers.

“The event itself is shaping up to be one of the best with more vintage cars than ever, plus Sir Malcolm Campbell’s water speed record-breaking Bluebird K3. To commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Spitfire we are proud to announce a full display by the Royal Air Force Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. Our special guests last year, the Massai Warriors, are again in the UK and are keen to come to the event again and insisting they take part in the Charleston World Record attempt. Many thanks once again to Alastair Hazell, whose sponsorship and support for the Roaring 20s and events in Bexhill is so greatly appreciated.”
