Bexhill Rotary Club providingfree blood pressure checks

Bexhill residents will be able to receive a free blood pressure check and general health advice in the town centre when attending the Anglo-French Market.

Bexhill Rotary Club will be holding their Health Awareness Day between 9am and lunchtime on Saturday May 16.

They will be sited in Devonshire Road at the Marina end.

For more than 10 years Rotary International in Great Britain (RIBI) has been supporting stroke prevention across the UK and it’s estimated that over 200,000 people have had their blood pressure checked at Health Awareness - Know Your Blood Pressure events hosted by Rotary during that time.

According to the Stroke Association (www.stroke.org.uk) there are152,000 strokes in the UK every year, which works out at one every five minutes.

High blood pressure is the biggest risk factor contributing to stroke, but it has no symptoms and can affect people of any age.

An estimated 16 million people in the UK have high blood pressure yet many of them don’t know it. If left untreated, it can increase therisk of having a stroke.

At Bexhill Rotary’s Health Awareness Day experts will not only be on hand to check people’s blood pressure but also to provide free advice on, weight control, hearing, mental agility and a number of other medical issues.

Carol Sargent from YouNique Wellbeing (http://www.youniquewellbeing.co.uk) will be providing a programme of events to promote Stress Awareness. These include Clinical Massage, Reflexology, Reiki, Shiatsu, Tai Chi and Qi Gong.

Bexhill Rotary Club is a service organisation delivering community projects involving the young, the elderly, the disabled and the disadvantaged.

The community activities organised by Bexhill Rotary are wide ranging andthey also raise funds for local, national and international charities.
