Bicycle stolen from teen in Brighton

Police are appealing for witnesses to the robbery of cycle from a teenage boy in Brighton.

Officers said the 17-year-old from Lewes was attacked in Surrenden Road, Brighton, at 4.20pm on Tuesday, March 21, while cycling with a friend.

Police said there is believed to be one suspect, described as black, aged 16 to 18, 5’ 11”, of slim build, wearing a black hooded top with red writing on the front and back, possibly the word Puma, black tracksuit bottoms and red underwear which was pulled above the tracksuit bottoms. The suspect was with a group of white and black boys of similar age.

The victim was very shaken but unhurt, police said.

Detective Constable Tom Duffy said: “The victim relied on the bike as his sole form of transport and will now suffer greatly due to this loss.

“It is often the items we lose that effect us most, rather than the incident itself.

“I would like to speak to anyone who witnessed this incident or saw someone matching the suspect’s description in the area of Surrenden Road that afternoon.

“The bike has a hardtail black frame with a gold finished handlebar, black leather saddle and large tyres with white stencil writing on the side saying ‘magic mary’”.
