Bid to develop land north of Bognor town centre

An outline planning application for the development of land on the Oldlands Farm site on the town’s northern edge has been submitted to Arun District Council.

A statement prepared on behalf of developer Hanbury Properties states: “We are seeking to deliver readily available serviced land for potential businesses looking to expand over the short and medium term.

“Discussions with local companies have already commenced to gauge current demand. Removing planning constraints and providing essential infrastructure will provide the maximum incentive to encourage business to the Oldlands Farm site.”

The proposed development would create some 118 jobs during its construction, with an estimate of between 820 and 1,660 when it is open for business.

The application says: “The development proposals will strengthen Arun’s economic base and provide local job opportunities. It is required to serve businesses willing to expand that are unable to find sites in the Bognor Regis area.”

The scheme has been designed to deliver businesses of a range of sizes.

Land has been set aside for a pub or other leisure facility, a DIY or garden centre, a crèche, car dealership or fast food restaurant, some 20 small business units, and a general industrial unit.
