Big day for Littlehampton’s small traders

Shops in the town, and in Arundel, will be joining the Small Business Saturday campaign, which aims to encourage shoppers to support their local traders.

And shoppers looking for Christmas gifts will themselves be rewarded with free parking in Littlehampton’s St Martin’s and Manor House car parks, and Arundel’s Crown Yard and Lido car parks, from 8am-6pm.

Littlehampton will have a range of attractions all day, including craft stalls, entertainment, children’s activities and free food tasting from the Fish Factory boutique van and a free grand raffle. Small Business Saturday in Littlehampton town centre is being co-sponsored by Arun District Council, Littlehampton Traders’ Partnership and the Fish Factory.

John Edjvet, Littlehampton town centre manager, will run an information point, offering town maps, parking discs and leaflets containing offers from independent traders.

Arun council leader Gillian Brown said: “I would like to encourage as many people as possible to pay a visit to their local town centre so they can see for themselves the positive difference independent traders make to our high street.

“Our local tradespeople and small businesses offer something for everyone and provide a level of customer care you might not find elsewhere. With Christmas just round the corner, what better opportunity is there to pick up a bargain and help our local economy?”

Arun has made its own car parks available for free stays on Saturday, while the Arundel Lido is offering the free spaces as the Arundel and Downland Community Leisure Trust’s contribution to the day.
