Big-hearted Felpham youngsters show charity spirit

STUDENTS in Felpham have shown off their charity spirit.

Pupils from Felpham Community College are currently taking part in their week-long annual charity challenge in a bid to raise more than £3,000 for good causes.

Headteacher Mark Anstiss said: “Our charity week is one of the traditional highlights of the school year and is always a great deal of fun.

“The sixth form charity committee puts a huge amount of work into organising the programme and they never disappoint. It is great for the teachers and students to interact in various competitions and help out some very worthy causes.”

Throughout this week a series of ‘Felpham’s Got Talent’ is being staged at which students are putting their performing skills on show. Other events include a sponsored swim and dog walk, a sixth form vs staff football match, a sixth form quiz and sleep-over, and a non-uniform day.

Each year students vote on which local charities to support – for 2012 they will be St Wilfrid’s Hospice, British Heart Foundation and Cancer Research UK. The charities will be given their cheques, which hopefully will amount to more than £3,000, at a ceremony next term.
