Big Screen pops up at Brighton Marina

The Brighton Big Screen returns, with a two-week stint at the Marina before returning to its usual home on Brighton beach.

A tennis tournament and opera performances will be on show on the Big Screen at Brighton Marina from this week.

From today (July 3) for two weeks, the public can watch Wimbledon live, accompanied by strawberries and cream, in the village square free of charge.

A handful of family films (Frozen, Lion King and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them) will also be showing all day on Sunday (July 9). There will be a kids club and a couple of mornings where CBeebies will be screened.

On Tuesday evening (July 4) there will be a live screening of the Royal Opera House 'La Traviata', a drama of passion, love and sacrifice.

The second live screening from the Royal Opera House is ‘Turandot’, Puccini’s final masterpiece which will transports viewers back to ancient China and takes place on the evening of the July 14.

Bill Murray, managing director of Brighton’s Big Screen Events, said: “We are extremely excited about running Wimbledon, The Royal Opera House live operas and our family movies at Brighton Marina. It has always been an aim of ours to extend into other areas and the Marina ticks all the boxes.”

There will also be a chance to watch the film from an ibis VIP SweetBed™ Experience. Costing £25 per person, the offer for two people per bed includes a complimentary welcome drink and cones of popcorn.

The Big Screen will be returning to Madeira Drive for its sixth year on Friday, July 28. It will be showing more than 100 films over 32 days on a huge HD-quality screen, with films such as La La Land, Beauty and the Beast, Moana, Jaws, T2 (Trainspotting), Logan, and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
