Big Sussex tea party

How can enjoying a cup of tea help other people? Join the Big Sussex Tea Party and you'll soon find out.

Sussex Housing & Care (SHC) is running the fundraiser soon for the third year and it has become a successful annual event.

Jancine Potts of SHC said: "It's being held during the last week in June and it's really simple to join in, all you have to do is have a tea party, invite your friends and neighbours, and ask for a donation.

"It can be as simple as a cup of tea or you could hold a cream tea with some homemade cakes and add a raffle, or even push the boat out and organise a street party to it to boost the funds. You can hold it at home, at work or any club you may belong to. It can be as big or small as you like."

SHC looks after over 700 older people in care homes and sheltered housing schemes.

Jancine commented: "We have been helping quietly since 1946. We treat each of our residents with dignity and as an individual. We care for them in the way they want and in a totally professional manner.

"Some need more support than others; many are very frail and are heavily dependent on us. All our residents have their lives enriched by SHC.

"As a charitable organisation, Sussex Housing & Care receives no government funding and it must fundraise to secure the type of accommodation and care that it believes older people within our community deserve.

"By joining in you will make a difference to a truly local charity and your help is much appreciated.

"Please join in this fun event; we can supply posters and balloons to get the party going. Also we are holding tea parties in many of our own establishments so you could come and join in with us as well. For further details and to let us know you will be joining in, please contact Jancine on 01323 875253 email [email protected]."
