Bigger, better hospice aims to open in 2010

A £13.5m new headquarters for a Worthing hospice has received support in principle from Worthing planners, subject to clarification of highways and environmental issues.

A decision on the project, which will bring improved facilities for patients, is expected at a meeting in three weeks time.

St Barnabas House has been at its current home in Columbia Drive, Worthing, for 35 years and would be relocated on farmland at the bottom of Titnore Lane and next to Northbrook College in Durrington.

Work would begin in early 2009 and the project is expected to take two years to complete.
