YOUNGSTERS at a local primary school have again won a quiz competition.

Pupils at St Nicolas and St Mary's Church of England Primary School, Shoreham, were the area heat winners in the 2008-09 inter-school quiz championship for the second year running.

"The children thoroughly enjoyed it," said David Etherton, head teacher of St Nicolas and St Mary's.

"They found it interesting and challenging and it was great to meet children from other schools.

"We're very proud of what they've achieved."

Four children represented the school in the heats '“ year-six pupil Oliver Staines, year-five pupil Tom Jarman, year-four pupil Edward Gilbert and year-three pupil Francesca Walm-sley.

They had to answer multiple choice questions on general knowledge, mental arithmetic and music to win The Top Ten of Everything book for their school.

They will now go on to compete in the regional heats in spring of next year.
