The Fete de Newhaven this year promises to be the biggest ever thanks to the presence of the town’s revived street market.
Organisers Newhaven Community Development Association (NCDA) said there would be up to 60 stalls at the event in the High Street on Saturday September 7 from 9am to 3pm.
It will also feature French food from the Dieppe Market and community stalls from local clubs and organisations.
There will be live music, children’s entertainment and demonstrations of activities available at Wave Leisure’s centres, such as Zumba. Visitors will also be able to have a go at the activities.
Event organiser Sally Foote from NCDA said: “The new market has been going really well.
“They are getting more and more stallholders each week.
“With the addition of the Dieppe Market alongside our new street market it should be a great occasion.
“We have never had a market of that size in Newhaven High Street.”
Stalls will sell a range of products including jewellery, crafts and woodwork, as well as flowers, artisan breads and kangaroo burgers.
There will also be French patisserie, meats, mustard, honey and crepes.
The Women’s Institute will run a cake stall, while local groups such as Newhaven Lifeboat and the Royal British Legion will be fundraising.
There will be free parking on the day.
The Fete de Newhaven is now in its eighth year.
Sally said the Newhaven street market was interested in making a return visit to Dieppe soon.
