Biker Mick's thanks

A GRATEFUL motorcyclist has praised the generosity of Hastings people who have helped him raise thousands for a charity motorbike ride.

Mick Colvin, known affectionately as Rocky, is travelling to France later this month to attempt the mammoth Barry Sheene Memorial Challenge.

Despite an initial target of 1,000, he has been overwhelmed with the support he has received from the Hastings community.

He said: "I have been absolutely amazed by the generosity of individuals and companies in the Hastings area.

"Thanks to them, I already have more than 3,700 in the fund, and more is rolling in all the time, with Croft Glass just pledging 1,000 with a series of incentives.

"This just goes to show what the people of Hastings are like and I want to say a big thank you to all who have helped."

Mr Colvin has been preparing for the trek with rides of up to 350 miles and is looking forward to taking up the 2,000 challenge.

After smashing through his first target he believes he is well on the way to raising more than 5,000 for CLICSargent, the country's leading childrens cancer charity.

The latest firms to donate are: Ashdown Hurrey Accountants, Rotherview Nursery, Victoria Tyres, Winstone Engineering, RDP Architects, Taybar Taxis, Kylie's Carpets, Woodbase Joiners.
