Biker's tragic death

MOTORBIKE enthusiast Andy Young was killed in a road accident only yards from the house he grew up in at Dallington.

The accident, in which a another man was seriously injured, happened on Sunday just before 10am.

Mr Young was riding his bike towards Heathfield when he was in collision with a car pulling out of a driveway at Woods Corner.

The 43-year-old motorist, from Carmarthen in Dyfed, was driving a Toyota Celica. He sustained serious injuries and was taken to the Conquest Hospital in Hastings.

Mr Young, 37, from Dudsland Cottages, Cross in Hand, received serious injuries. He died at the scene only a few yards from the house he grew up in and where his parents, Lilly and Eddy, still live.

Mr Young had been with his fianc e Linda Booth, 35, for 10 years. He leaves their daughter, Catherine, 7, and his son Tony, 14.

Miss Booth said Mr Young had 'idolised his daughter and she had felt the same way.'

Mr Young grew up in Dallington where he went to the primary school and then Heathfield College.

For the last 10 years he had been a self-employed fencer and had worked for hundreds of people.

Miss Booth said: 'Andy was well loved by everybody and anyone he met got on with him. He was warm hearted and very caring.'

She added: 'When we lived in Buxted he helped the local scouts by concreting an area for them when everyone else was saying they couldn't.

'He used to take part in grass track racing, where he was very competitive. He was very good at everything he did and will be missed by many.'

Mr Young was passionate about his hobbies, although he had stopped racing because of the cost.

Miss Booth said: 'Andy loved being on his bike and riding around with his driving partner, Mickey. Life wouldn't be fun if we didn't have the things we enjoy. After all, you can't live your life afraid to cross the road.'

The funeral is on Friday, April 12, at Dallington Church and anyone who knew Mr Young is invited along to say their last goodbyes.
