Billingshurst parking problems may be resolved

A proposal to solve parking problems for Billingshurst residents living near the train station has reached a formal stage.

West Sussex County Council is asking the public to have their final say on plans to introduce a new Residents’ Parking Scheme in the village.

A Residents’ Parking Scheme is an area of streets where parking is controlled through the day.

Residents, local businesses and their visitors are given priority to park by purchasing permits or vouchers.

This is done to improve road safety, reduce congestion and prevent obstructions to private driveways by removing indiscriminate parking.

Earlier this year, an ‘informal’ public consultation and series of exhibitions was held to gauge support for the scheme.

Comments from residents led to the scheme being revised.

Minor changes include yellow line restrictions in other parts of Billingshurst and some additional Pay and Display bays being proposed close to the railway station.

All comments will be reported at the next meeting of the North Horsham County Local Committee on Monday, September 23.
