Blueprint for the future of Crawley is given the go-ahead

Crawley’s Local Plan, which sets out the town’s development and infrastructure needs until 2030, was adopted by the council last week.

Following consultations and modifications, an independent Planning Inspector, appointed by the Government, concluded that the plan was legally compliant and sound.

The council says that the Local Plan ensures the town’s future development needs can be delivered to support sustainable economic growth while continuing to protect its important built and natural environmental assets.

The plan includes the allocation of 5,100 new homes in Crawley by 2030 with almost 40 per cent of them in Forge Wood.

There are also plans for affordable homes, the encouragement of shops and homes in the town centre,

the protectin of green spaces and support for

business, jobs and economic growth at Manor Royal.

Councillor Peter Smith, said: “We now have in place a proper approved Plan that will help to define and protect the shape of our town over the next 15 years.
