Blues Festival willhelp St Michael’s

Gecko Bar in St Leonards is once again playing host to the Bare Faced Blues Festival which is being held to raise funds for St Michael’s Hospice .

The first festival was held last year and proved to be a great success.

It was the idea of local man Barry Taylor and featured popular local acts such as Buick 6, King Sized Slim and Pete Prescott.

Barry was the man who booked the Sex Pistols to play on Hastings Pier back in July 1976.

Last year’s Festival raised £756.91 for the hospice through CD sales and collections.

This year’s Festival is taking place on Sunday October 4 from 1.30pm-8pm. There is another strong line-up this year with and appearance by The Black Sheep, with special guest Pete Brown, the lyricist from Eric Clapton’s Cream.

Also playing will be Roger Hubbard, Peter O’ Donnell and Mick Bolton, Blues Plus and Eddy Odel.

Entry to the festival is free but donations to St Michael’s Hospice are welcomed.

Gecko Bar is on the seafront at 22 Grand Parade, St Leonards on Sea.

St Michael’s Hospice is also holding a Coffee Morning and Bazaar on Saturday October 3, 10:15am – 12pm, taking place in the hospice grounds.

Visitors will have the opportunity to browse stalls, pick up some great bargains, and treat themselves to a selection of homemade cakes. The 50p entrance fee includes a complimentary cup of tea or coffee and biscuits.

The event is organised by The Hastings and St Leonards Support Group, a dedicated group who run regular events throughout the year in aid of St Michael’s Hospice.
