Bodiam

Bonfire night: The Castle Inn is holding its bonfire and fireworks night on Friday November 14 at 6.30pm in the pub’s garden. There will also be a Children’s Lantern Parade around Bodiam Castle. Lantern making will take place at Claremont School on Saturday November 8 from 10am - 3pm. Please come along as it is a great way for the children to be involved in what is now a Bodiam tradition. All the equipment and materials will be provided but there will be a charge of £3 per lantern. For more information call Wendy at the Castle Inn on 01580 830330,

The Mobile Library: comes to Levetts Lane on November 13 from 3.05pm - 3.25pm.

Post Office: Many people from the village go to Hawkhurst Post Office which has made some changes to its opening times. It is now open longer from 7am - 10pm Monday - Saturday and from 10am - 4pm on Sundays. There is an open plan counter which may not be so good, but the times are good. If you have any comments you can Freepost them. The changes will come into effect in January or February next year.

Parish meeting: People stop me in the street and ask when the Parish Council meet. It is November 17 in the Parish Room. The Council would love to see members of the public and the press attend.

Remembrance Sunday: We hope we have a very good turn-out for Remembrance Sunday on November 9. There is a service at St Giles at 10.59am and at the War Memorial at 12 noon. Gordon will take all the services.

Estate Action Day: It was very nice to see some old faces, who one would have thought would be claiming their state pension by now, on the Levetts lane Estate Action Day. The event was run by AmicusHorizon and it was good to see our new housing officer Sophie and past housing officer Marie Lapierre. Marie and myself have had some ups and downs in the past but I must say thank you Marie.for pushing for Levetts Lane to have an Action Day. Thank you too to all the staff and the police who helped make it a good day. Cllr Sue Prochak was at the event. Sue looks after Bodiam on Rother District Council. Sue and I had a bacon roll together. I do hope my friends on Rother do not read this.
