Bodiam

The jubilee tree planting that took place on the recreation ground by Heather Lewis, previous clerk to Bodiam Parish Council, members felt had died. But glad to report the tree is still with us. The chairman felt that if Heather did the planting it would not have died.

Helen Dawson is now home from hospital but oh, the Conquest Hospital could not get any transport home to Levetts Lane until 9pm. Helen is 91 and as we can all see Helen is not in the best of health and to send her home at 9pm at night. But sense at last came into it and Helen is now coming home the next day.

The other day I saw the very good past wicket keeper for many years for the cricket club, Steve Arnold, in Blackbrooks Garden Centre. I felt Steve was part of the management as he did not have a uniform on and Steve is not the man to say what he is. I know that on the cricket side of his life he could have signed for Sussex, but he put Bodiam first.

All of my time is happy in Bodiam but the other day was very happy with the young lady in my life (what is her name?). We went to the chairman of Rother District Council’s end of term thank you reception at the Wharf Tearoom, Bodiam Castle. Full marks to the National Trust staff for the very good for but National Trust, do sort your gates out. After we went to the Castle Inn for a meal - also very good - I must say in Bodiam we have two very good establishments for food.
