The body of one of the two missing fishermen has been recovered off Newhaven.

Sussex Police confirmed his body was found last night (Monday, November 23).

He has since been identified as Adam Harper, 26, from Brixham, Devon, and his next of kin have been notified, the force said.

Robert Morley, 38, from Pembrokeshire, is still missing, the force confirmed.

The two men went missing on Saturday after their fishing boat sank off the coast of Newhaven.

The Joanna C fishing vessel sank at about 6am with three crew members on board.

One of the men was found clinging to a lifebuoy and was rescued by Newhaven Coastguard. He was flown to hospital by air ambulance.

A police spokesman said: “Following the tragic incident on November 21, in which the fishing boat Joanna C capsized south of Newhaven, the body of one of the two missing fishermen was recovered by divers from the wreck last night (Monday, November 23).

“Our thoughts are with their families at this time.”
