His plans to change the use of the premises next to Syrup Cafe from a former jobs agency to a cafe were approved by Arun District Council.

Council planning officer Simon Davis said the proposal to produce an extra seven covers was a good idea and would improve Station Road where the cafe was located.

“The proposed external changes to the two properties are considered to be acceptable having regard to the character of this predominantly retail area.

“The proposal will also visually improve the corner of Station Road and Crescent Road by bringing number nine back into use and smartening up its appearance,” his report said. The scheme is backed by Arun’s economic regeneration officers and Bognor’s town centre manager, Toyubur Rahman, for enhancing the mix of uses as well as providing an uplift and extra footfall to that part of the town centre.

Mr Sen wants to install new aluminium windows and doors to his current cafe and the empty office and nine inward opening bi-fold windows.
