Bognor carpenter died after being struck by a train in Chichester, inquest hears

A 45-year-old carpenter was struck by a train in Chichester last Wednesday, an inquest has heard.

Dominic Jennings, of Chichester Road, Bognor Regis, died at the scene as a result of his injuries.

An inquest into his death was opened at Crawley Coroner’s Court on Tuesday.

The inquest heard that Mr Jennings had been on the railway line near to the Bognor Road rail bridge in Chichester on Wednesday, July 22, when he was struck by a train travelling towards Chichester station.

A post-mortem into his death held at Worthing Hospital on Friday gave the cause of death as ‘multiple injuries’.

A date was set for an inquest to be held in December.
