Bognor hospital fete needs volunteers

Prizes and pairs of hands are needed to make this year's hospital fete in Bognor Regis a success.

The annual summer event takes place at Bognor Regis War Memorial Hospital on Saturday, August 2.

The hospital's grounds off Shripney Road will be filled with all kinds of fundraising fun between 1pm and 4pm.

But the organisers at the hospital's Friends need as much help as possible.

Anita Sturdey, the Friends' fundraising co-ordinator, said: "We still need lots of goodies for the fete, particularly full bottles, cakes, tombola prizes and homemade jams and chutneys.

Please bring these items into the main reception at the hospital.

"We also desperately need help tomorrow (Friday, August 1) evening before from 5.30pm to put the stalls up. Each year we have a small handful of fabulous volunteers, but it would be much easier and quicker if there more pairs of hands.

"Anyone who can help should just turn up in the central part of the hospital grounds and they will be made most welcome."

The need for a successful fete '“ the Friends' biggest single money-spinner '“ is more crucial than ever. The group has just paid 157,000 to set up an improved renal dialysis unit at the hospital.

This has more space than the previous unit to enable more patients to be treated closer to their homes.

To get the cash pouring in, the fete will boast attractions such as a grand draw, cream teas, barbecue, cakes, country produce, tombolas, foot massages and lots more.

There will be a live band and Erik Jack will again be the MC to guide the afternoon along.
