The 29-year-old from the town was arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the death of 24-year-old Terry Davies, who died in a flat fire in Littlehampton, last September.

Mr Davies’ body was found at the property in South Terrace at 12.47am on September 12, of last year.

A post-mortem examination showed Mr Davies, who worked at Morrisons, in Wick, died from the effects of breathing in smoke.

A 22-year-old man from Littlehampton, who was arrested on suspicion of setting fire to a car outside the block, has been bailed until June 11.

The investigation was passed to Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team when investigators from West Sussex Fire and Rescue discovered the blaze had been started deliberately using white spirit.

Officers have said white spirit had been poured in front of a home in nearby Bayford Road, Littlehampton, and a car was set alight in Granville Road just hours before for the fatal fire.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Sussex Police on 101 quoting Operation Annexe.
