Bognor Regis town centre to be boosted by group

A STEERING group has been set up to harness the voices of town centre businesses in Bognor Regis.

The four-strong group will lead the initial work to ensure the recently formed Bognor Regis Traders’ Association becomes a fully-fledged group.

It will be headed initially by computer shop owner and founder member Chris Heaps. Joining him will be lettings agency boss Paul Clark, business owner and town councillor Paul Wells and Nick Stuart-Nicolson, the owner of Bognor Regis Chamber of Commerce.

Mr Heaps said: “It’s very important to have a representative body for all
the traders in Bognor which does not entail joining an organisation and paying money.

“Every business in the town centre automatically becomes a member of our association, whether they become an active member or not is up to them. But they know they have a forum with us and a voice if they need it.”

The steering group was agreed at a meeting of the association hosted by the London Road Coffee Shop on August 9.

The association was formed about six months ago with the support of Arun and Bognor councils as part of the work to boost the town centre.

Details of this month’s meeting were given to some 300 businesses. The next meeting will be at 6pm on October 4 at Macari’s coffee lounge in London Road.
