Bognor Regis volunteers rewarded for their hard work

Mary Tickner and Maureen Courtney have been unveiled as two of the winners of 4SIGHT’s Volunteer of the Year Awards.

The pair were presented with a salver and flowers, by the charity’s chairman, Dr Norman Boyland, at the 4SIGHT annual general meeting, held at Shoreham Methodist Church last Wednesday.

Martin Pearson, 4SIGHT chief executive, said: “The 500 volunteers that support 4SIGHT in West Sussex are amazing.

“Our work with vision-impaired people has been boosted tremendously by this fantastic group of people.

“Every year it is harder to single out a few award winners, when so much that we do has been reliant on people’s goodwill, so we thank all our volunteers for their efforts.”

Mary was recognised for being an extremely regular volunteer who does not mind how hard she works and will take on anything.

She is also very considerate to all the members and is a great help getting stuck into everything.

Maureen, who is always willing to lend a hand, was honoured for being a wonderful driver and excellent treasurer, and always concerned about all the club members, and for being a good friend to all – and very good fun.

Mark and Delphine Dearlove from Crawley were also honoured at the celebration, which coincided with World Sight Day.
