Bognor teenagers charged after police chase

Two Bognor Regis teenagers have been charged with driving offences after a police chase.

The charges come after police stopped a car in Worthing following a pursuit from Shoreham yesterday afternoon (Wednesday, August 3).

Daniel Johnson, 19, of Victoria Drive, has been charged with being carried in a motor vehicle whilst knowing that the car had been taken without the consent of the owner, obstructing a constable in execution of duty, and assaulting a constable in the execution of duty.

Matthew Johnson, 19, Victoria Drive, has been charged with aggravated vehicle taking and vehicle damage of £5000 or over, using a motor vehicle without third party insurance, and driving a motor vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a licence.

Two Worthing teenagers were charged with similar offences.

Billy Howlett, 19, of Tarring Road, has been charged with being carried in a motor vehicle whilst knowing that the car had been taken without the consent of the owner.

Liam Thompson, 19, of Pavilion Road, has been charged with being carried in a motor vehicle whilst knowing that the car had been taken without the consent of the owner.

The four suspects are due to appear at Worthing Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, August 16.

An 18-year-old man also from Bognor was arrested and released without further action.
