Bognor third highest ratio of care homes in UK

A new survey has shown Bognor Regis is a care home hotspot in the UK.

The town has the third highest ratio of the premises in the country. It has one nursing and residential home for every 1,096 residents.

Eastbourne is top of the league with a care home for every 836 people, followed by Watford (1,053) and Bognor.

The top five is completed by Hastings and Denbighshire. Fourteen of the top 20 places for care home provision are coastal areas. The information has been provided by locallife.co.uk.

Chairman Tony Martin said: "It may come as no surprise to some that Bognor is a care home hotspot. This is a clear case of supply and demand. Arun has a higher proportion of older people than almost all other local authorities, with one in three residents aged 60 or over.

The UK's ageing population '“ combined with Bognor's popularity as a retirement destination '“ means there's unlikely to be a slowdown in demand for care homes any time soon."
