Bognor wins beach award

A coastal award has been won by Bognor Regis this year in the absence of the Blue Flag.

The town will have to make do with the quality coast award handed out by environmental charity Encams.

A flag denoting the town's status in gaining the award will be hoisted above the promenade at the bandstand flagpoles at noon on Monday. The award covers the beach between the pier and Gloucester Road. It recognises beaches that are well-managed to suit needs of different visitors, reflecting the diverse nature of the coastline.
