NEVILL Juvenile Bonfire Society is staging a right royal eggstravaganza on April 30.
It’s a double celebration to mark Easter and to commemorate the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton the previous day.
The society hopes the grand event on Nevill Green, from 12 noon to 4pm, will be supported by the entire local community.
It will be an important fundraiser for the society, which celebrates its 44th birthday this year, to enable the development of its land so the future of its annual celebrations are secured.
Marquees with food and drinks are to be provided, and various community stalls and games are lined up together with arena events.
There will be a ‘tossing the bouquet’ competition (female competitors needed); ‘top hat throwing competition’ (male competitors needed); egg rolling races (open to competitors of all ages) and a tug of war challenge with several bonfire society teams entered.
The event is to continue into the evening (5-9pm) to enable a street party (Gathering on the Green) to take place on Nevill Green to celebrate the Royal wedding.
This will include live music from Dr Bluegrass and the Illbilly 8 together with a hog roast and a bar. Tickets will be on sale shortly at £3.50 each. For more information and bookings please contact Mike Fisk 07768-611671 or Peter Earl 0777-2031-269.
Community group stalls/table top stalls booked in advance are £5; commercial stands are £10.
The society is keen to hear from anyone who has a public address system they would be happy to lend for the day, and from any musicians or young bands that would like to come along and do one or two slots during the event.
