Book characters come to life in Barcombe

CHILDREN and staff at Barcombe Primary School certainly entered into the spirit of World Book Day.

They celebrated the event by coming to school dressed as a character from their favourite book.

All the youngsters really made a special effort and looked and acted as their character for the whole day.

The school was also lucky enough to have a visit from fantasy author Jamie Thomson.

He talked about creating stories and characters, and read some of his new book, Dark Lord A Fiend in Need – the second book from the popular Dark Lord series.

Jamie grew up in Brighton where he met co-author Mark Smith at Brighton College. He is the author of numerous novels and ‘choose-your-own-adventure’ type gamebooks. His contributions to the genre include four major creator-owned series: Duelmaster, Falcon, and Way of the Tiger (all co-written with Mark Smith) and Fabled Lands (co-written with Dave Morris). He also co-wrote three books for the Fighting Fantasy series: Talisman of Death, Sword of the Samurai, and The Keep of the Lich Lord.
