The national stamp of approval has come from the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR), which has placed Your County in the 'best magazine' category in the CIPR Excellence Awards 2006. T

he Awards recognise best practice in public relations throughout the UK and acknowledge personal and team achievement at the highest professional level.

Peter Jones, Leader of East Sussex County Council is delighted with the news.

He said: "We have already received very positive feedback about Your County from our residents' panel here in East Sussex.

"The magazine is written in Plain English with high standards of clear design and local people have told us how much they like it. Now we have been given a national thumbs-up which is a remarkable achievement considering the PR budgets available to private sector companies and other organisations. This is a well deserved accolade for our outstanding, if small, team of communications professionals."

Your County '“ part of the Council's overall communications strategy - is the only county council magazine to make the final list, which also includes examples from the private sector. A record 724 entries were received for the 26 categories in the CIPR Awards this year. Organisations that have made the short lists will now be interviewed in May and June before finding out if they have won an award at the CIPR Excellence Awards event in London in July.
