Boost for De La Warr

THE De La Warr Pavilion will be among arts projects which will benefit from a cash windfall thanks to East Sussex County Council. The council has approved a budget of more than £40,000 to support the arts in East Sussex this year.

County leaders say the decision could unlock even more funding.

Last year, part of the county council's arts budget helped to bring in almost 350,000 for 11 projects in East Sussex.

Deputy leader Cllr Tony Reid said: "Once again we are looking to help to secure thousands of pounds of additional funding. We've had incredible success over the past few years working with our partners in the county to help bring in external arts funding and we will be pushing hard to try to repeat this achievement.

"This budget underlines our commitment to promoting East Sussex as a place where arts and culture are valued and can be enjoyed and where there are increasing opportunities to take an active part in them."

Projects benefiting from the Council's arts budget this year are:

'¢ The East Sussex Arts Development Partnership (20,000). Previous projects include the first ever County Youth Arts Festival held last year. A second is planned this autumn.
