Boost for West Sussex groups available

COMMUNITY groups, organisations and charities across the Herald area could scoop some cash.

Nominations are open to the Saxon Weald community grant scheme, which gives out funding of between £100 to £1,000 to local voluntary and not-for-profit organisations every year.

This year, there is a total of £10,000 in the pot to hand out.

Jim Dean, head of business improvement at Saxon Weald, said: “We are proud to support local good causes who help to improve the quality of life for our residents and the wider community.

“We look forward to receiving a range of applications this year.”

Organisations that benefited last year included Outset Youth Action, The Samaritans of Horsham & Crawley, The New Runners Club for the Disabled, and the Steyning Area First Responders (SAFeR).

SAFeR is made up of volunteers who are fully-trained by the South East Coast Ambulance Service and provide emergency first aid in rural areas, where it may take paramedics time to arrive, and is exactly the kind of organisation the company wants to help.

A Saxon Weald spokesman said: “Does your Scout hut need a new lick of paint? Would you like to set up a knitting club? Or, maybe you just need help towards your club’s general running costs? Look no further.”

To apply, groups must be a voluntary, not-for-profit organisation working where Saxon Weald has housing stock.

For more information or an application pack, contact Alex MacDonald on 01403 226013 or e-mail [email protected]

The closing date is Friday, December 2.
