Boris on the road to recovery

PRAISE has been given to skilled staff at Cinque Ports Vets in Rye who gave Boris the bat the power to fly again.

Boris causes a stir last week when he recovered earlier than expected and set off a burglar alarm at the Cinqe Ports Street vets.

He was brought in to the vets by John Smith, from Broad oak, Brede, who found him grounded and looking in a bad way, in his garden.

A surgeon saw that his wing membrane was torn and managed to repair it with some delicate suture work.”

Rye Deputy Mayor Bernardine Fiddimore, who works at the surgery, said: “They are very skilled and used to treating small animals. They did a good job as Boris was not expected to be able to fly again so soon.”

Cinque Ports Vets branch manager Mel Butterick said: “Boris is continuing to progress well at Mallydams wildlife centre.”
