Bowlers fly the flag for Wings charity match

More than 54 bowlers took part in the RAFA 381 Club’s Jim Lorimer’s Wings Appeal Cup charity match on Sunday.

The match, sponsored by Kevin Holland (Funeral Services), saw a round robin event, involving 18 teams of triples. played on nine rinks at Waterloo Square throughout a lovely warm and sunny afternoon - with only one point each separating the first three teams.

A buffet in the RAFA Club followed and Anthony Holland, ably assisted by his children, Alexandra and Thomas, presented glass trophies to the winners and runners-up.

RAFA president Irene Lorimer presented the Jim Lorimer Cup to the winners, Ned Waddock, Hazel Walsh and Jonathan Taylor.

The runners-up cup was presented to Kate Hopkins, Margaret Phillips and Ray Philpott.

Ray Fulbrook thanked the sponsors for their generosity, not only for the trophies but also for their donation and the scorecard holders which every player received.

Chris Ayton thanked everyone who supported the event, especially the local businesses, as the amount raised was more than last year.

The street collection for Wings will take place in Bognor on Saturday, September 10.
