Bowling them overat Gullivers open day

The idea of Saturday’s open day was to encourage newcomers to take up the sport which has been a favourite in Bexhill for many years.

Senior coach Maggie Carpenter said thanks to indoor facilities people were able to try their hand at bowling even though the weather was not conducive.

She commented: “It was a very successful day - we had lots of people, and virtually everyone of them is going to carry on with trying.

“A large proportion of people who came on Saturday say they are coming back to continue with the coaching, which is lovely.

“It is really nice that people are enjoying it.

“And of course we are the only club in Bexhill where they can go indoors or outdoors - so although it rained we had a smashing day.

“Some of the visitors just wanted to try bowling for the first time and it is wonderful so many of them have wanted to come back.”
