Boys charged after burglaries in Hailsham


Two boys from Eastbourne have been charged on suspicion of carrying out burglaries in the Hailsham area, police said.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said: “A 15-year-old has been charged {on suspicion of} with three burglaries in the town - at WH Smith where stationery was stolen, an attempted burglary at The Paperbox where, like at WH Smith, a trolley was used to smash windows and gain entry, and at a youth centre where games and chocolate was stolen.”

Police said the burglaries allegedly took place in July and August.

A 16-year-old boy has been charged on suspicion of the burglary at WH Smith, police said.

Police said both boys wil now appear before Eastbourne Youth Court on November 18.
